TV’s Greatest Game Show Hosts Have Changed A Lot Since Their Early Days

Come on down and take a look at how much these game show hosts have changed since their earliest days of spinning wheels and opening boxes! Some of them are still working, but others you won’t have seen for a while — and you might be surprised by what they look like now. We’ll take “Nostalgia” for $1,000, please, Alex.

1. Bob Eubanks

Bob Eubanks was one of the first game show hosts to become a household name. From 1966 through to 1974 he presented The Newlywed Game, and that’s a show that to this day is firmly cemented in the public consciousness. But he did a whole lot of other, lesser-known game shows too, including Rhyme and Reason, Card Sharks and Trivia Trap.

TV legend

Eubanks is an elderly gentleman now with some of the most incredible stories to tell. For a start, he’s one of the people responsible for the career of Dolly Parton! If that wasn’t enough of a big deal, he has five Emmys, one of them being a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award, and the last Walk of Fame star assigned in the 20th century belongs to him.

2. Steve Harvey

Once upon a time Steve Harvey was an insurance salesman, but there’s an element of salesmanship in the job of a game show host, no? Harvey went on to become a stand-up comedian and sitcom actor, and then in 2010 he became the host of the popular game show Family Feud. His hilarious presenting style spawned a ton of internet memes.

Never give up

Harvey’s come a long way and he knows it. In November 2022 he wrote on Twitter, “I didn’t get into comedy until I was 27. I was homeless from 30 to 33. I lived in a car for three years. Don’t give up on your dreams.” He added, “People see me today, they don’t know where I come from.” But look what he’s achieved!
